Starting therapy can feel like a lot.

Here's what's helpful to know going in.

Is therapy right for me, even if I'm nervous?
Starting can feel like a lot, and that's normal. Therapy helps whether you're barely hanging on or just want a little extra support. A free consultation is a low-pressure way to feel it out, with no commitment.
Will I actually be working with you?
Yes. This is my own private practice, so the person answering your emails and sitting with you each week is me, Meika. You won't be routed through a rotating network or handed off to someone you've never spoken with.
How and how often do we meet?
Everything is online, by secure video, for anyone located in Washington. We start with weekly as a baseline, and can meet more or less often at your choosing.
What is a first session like?
Our first session is called an intake, and it's a little different from our regular sessions. I'll have lots of questions about who you are and how you came to be the person sitting here today. From there, we'll start setting goals and mapping out where to begin. There's nothing to prepare. Just come as you are.
What is the high-support option?
For stretches when you want more, we add a shorter mid-week check-in to your weekly session, so you're supported between sessions, not only during them. It's billed through your insurance, the same as a regular session.
What is EMDR?
EMDR is an approach that helps you work through stuck experiences and close the gap between what you know and what you feel. It can stand on its own or weave into talk therapy, whenever it's a good fit.
How do insurance and cost work?
I accept most major insurance, so your cost depends on your plan. The quickest way to check is my Headway page. If your plan isn't listed there, out-of-network may still be an option. If you'd rather pay privately, sessions are $180, with a $200 intake, and a limited sliding scale may be available.
What do you help with?
Anxiety is my focus, along with panic, phobias, self-criticism, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, and what tends to travel with them. Not sure if your situation fits? Just ask.
